Mumbai is India’s financial hub. Industries ranging from textiles, oil, nuclear energy, shipping, software and manufacturing excel in and around this metropolis. Mumbai is home to premier research centres like Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, Tata Institute of Fundamental Research and academic institutions such as University of Mumbai, Indian Institute of Technology, Medical Institutes and Tata Institute of Social Sciences. During March, the weather in Mumbai is pleasant with day temperatures of around 30°C and night temperatures of around 20°C. BARC, the conference venue, is located in the south-east part of the city, about 20 kms from International / Domestic Airports as well as Central Railway Stations. Taxi (General or A/C), Auto Rickshaw services are are available round the clock. Besides, there are a number of cab services available by phone: two most commonly used are “MERU (022-4422 4422)” and MegaCab (022-4242 4242). Delegates coming by trains or flights are advised to go for prepaid taxi service counters available at all Railway stations and Airports.

 

Delegates coming by train may have their last station as (approximate fares):

 

1. Mumbai Central (22 kms):  Normal Taxi (Rs. 200); Meru /Megacab (Rs. 250); No Auto Rickshaw

2. Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus (CST) (27 kms): Normal Taxi (Rs. 250); Meru/MegaCab (Rs. 300); No Auto Rickshaw

3. Kurla Station (10 kms): Normal Taxi (Rs. 80); Meru/MegaCab (Rs. 120); Auto Rickshaw (Rs. 50)

4. Bandra Terminus (14 kms): Normal Taxi (Rs. 140); Meru/MegaCab (Rs. 165); Auto Rickshaw (Rs. 80)

 

Delegates coming by flight will get down either at domestic or Chhatrapati Shivaji international airport from where prepaid taxi services as well as Meru / MegaCab services are available . The approximate fares are:

 

1. Domestic Airport (18 kms): Normal Taxi (Rs. 170); Meru/MegaCab (Rs. 200); Auto Rickshaw (Rs. 100)

2. International Airport (23 kms): Normal Taxi (Rs. 250); Meru/MegaCab (Rs. 300); Auto Rickshaw (Rs. 150)
